Away for a brief Central American encounter, we took a taste of “Ticos” culture at Four Seasons Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo but were mildly disappointed to see the usual “Westernization” of this idyllic property, leaving us to ponder if even the tropical rain forest can fall victim to our desire to consume in gobs of poor taste. We experienced more authentic “Tico” culture through the staff, not the property itself, which could’ve easily been located on any exotic, tropical region anywhere for that matter in this hemisphere.
