In Mission Mode…Holiday Style

It’s the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s 2-story-high Christmas tree as it stands in the Medieval section of the main floor, just beyond the Baroque relics ahead of a Chanticleer concert this evening. 30Nov2010

So, my dear friends. It’s been an incredible year. Not quite over yet, but the new year beckons…upon the horizon. I can just taste it. 2011 just around the corner and meanwhile, I’m still wondering what happened to 2-0-1-0-??? I mean, aside from my usual whines of how difficult – big surprise – motherhood has been, I’m struggling with the whole social media apps especially Facebook. All while balancing LIFE and all the strings I’ve been coping here and abroad. It’s enough to want to crawl under a hole, bury my head in the sand. If it’s not on blackberry, then it’s on iPad. If it’s not a bookmark on my home screen, then it’s on TV. I still get email alerts, so without having to disable all fb contact, well is there anywhere that I can go without seeing some form of add for media? Twitter has sucked me in now, so I finally succumbed to this app…everywhere. To take a nice break brings some solace in knowing I don’t HAVE to always be – virtually – socializing or rather sharing. I hope you’ll all understand. Besides, the holidays are here and I’m just crazed trying to satisfy EVERYONE. Look forward, however to a wonderful holiday with my family and friends.

Happy Holidays! 😉

Long Wintry Doldrums Continue with Creative ‘Indoor Activities’

Just making his usual observations…another limestone townhouse currently on the market for a whopping USD$28.8M

Among featured interior designers, this sitting room has the perfect balance of masculine and feminine features; really like this section.

Somewhat fearful of heights, here’s another view of the winding staircase from the penthouse level. Note, Steven’s shoes are far right.

BOOO! Happy – Belated- Halloween!

A Lurking Little Lion on Halloween…Our son is just learning why we costume ourselves and the beauty of trick-or-treating once a year. He’s now 16 months and loving Fall.

Byzantine Wonder at St. Bartholomew’s.

Architecturally speaking, the stained glass and limestone interiors of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church remains one of the greater Byzantine wonders of New York. It’s actually nice to stop by once in a while to appreciate this holy space. Midtown meetings serve some higher purpose after all.
Further evidenced by the wooden structures along the nave.

Finally taking one of the last tours of the 2010 Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club Decorator Show House, just around the block.

British Airways Connects with CitationAir

British Airways Connects with CitationAir BA and CitationAir Connect. While on another long haul overseas I was happy to see an offering that made sense. Rather than paying hourly or membership fees, as a BA Exec Club member you can – ah finally – make those domestic charters without fuss, but more importantly save a BUNDLE and get to your destination without the hassle of transiting through yet another airport. What a sigh of relief!

Finally…on board

Grabbing a Last Gasp Peek...

I always think it’s silly to advertise underneath one of the spare fold-down seats inside a London cabbie, especially an ad that quite literally promotes the very vehicle one is traveling, just in case you hadn’t noticed the difference yourself when you hailed the driver in the first place…hmmm

Twin Towers — still missed, still missing — from the downtown landscape, but not forgotten.

View from the Hudson on a borrowed yacht during a cold Fall evening. Even for a NYC-born dweller, I can’t help but feel a sense of loss, no matter which angle – from the air, on the water, on foot on the street, from a building, driving passed in a taxi – one never forgets. The large empty space remains there…still.

Tucker’s Point Club Spa reflection pool, Bermuda. August 2010
Rather than waiting in the usual indoor lounge with other spa(ists), TPC offers peaceful, outdoor surroundings with service attendants for all your needs in between those treatments.

Sometimes the location of terraces relative to the property and ocean can make or break a vacation. Luckily we were on the top floor and had no worries with any neighboring residents.
